Pros +

  • too few washrooms and generally not well clean and always flooded
  • It was really nice, the staff are pleasant and the facilities are clean
  • Absolutely nothing. Horrible experience ever

Cons -

  • While no AC is common in London, the rooms were stifling. The box fan in the room was not enough to cool the space. In addition, I would wake up with bites. I am still swollen and blistering in four spots on my body.
  • The showers are a bit damp and the floor is really not practical - you're always drenched on the floor after someone's shower Unfortunately there's no dining room with a microwave/tables/chairs, so you have to eat outside
  • I was disappointed as I paid for a female domitory against my will I was put in a room with men. It was a horrible thing to wake up at night and see men walking around. Toilets were smelly

The facility was relatively clean, decent location.

Someone went into my belongings and stole over $1500 of items while they were checking out. The hostel has been next to silent about it.

Bad

This is by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in.The staff are extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. At reception they speak to you as if you are a problem rather than a guest. There is no basic politeness, no willingness to assist, and absolutely no sense of hospitality. The toilets are constantly blocked, with water not draining properly and a terrible smell throughout. What shocked me the most was finding used syringes lying on the bathroom floor. This is not just dirty — it is a serious health and safety hazard. The rooms are filthy. It feels like they are never cleaned. Dust everywhere, rubbish left behind, stains on the bedding. It is uncomfortable to even sit down, let alone sleep.I strongly advise anyone to avoid this place. If you care about your health, safety, and basic comfort, stay somewhere else.

It’s cheap and it’s close to Victoria station. Gets the job done. There are plugs by the bed and good lockers. The pub downstairs has some decent deals for guests.

The bathroom floor is wet a lot. No curtains and no reading lights in the beds. The beds are creaky and there’s a lot of noise. Nothing major, just standard cheap hostel things.

Beautiful old building, friendly staff. Perfect location, very close to Victoria station, the river Thames and a lot of landmarks are nearby, a lot to see in the vicinity. Beds were comfortable enough. The room was small, but we did our research advance, so it was not a surprise, and we basically needed a place to sleep, spent most of the time out anyway. I think, good value for the price. Some discomfort with the showers, a bit of noise etc are expected when staying at a hostel. :) Considering the location and the upsides, I think it's a great place to stay in London. Possibly not the most comfortable for a long stay, but perfect for a shorter stop. The pub downstairs also great :)

As many have said, the showers could be better, the floors were flooded constantly. I think it has also to do with the guests' behaviour. There could be a mop or something in the washrooms though, would also make it possible to clean up after oneself :) There was some noise etc, let's not forget it's a hostel AND an old building - so I think it's understandable :)
